Trail Overview

Trail 2103 is a blue trail located within the Potomac River Riding Area of Wolf Den Run State Park. The Potomac River is the southernmost of the three riding areas at Wolf Den Run. Potomac River has a good mix of green and blue, and black trails. It also has a slag pile playground. There are also a few narrow-width trails specifically just for SxS, ATV, and motorcycles to choose from.

Difficulty

Trail 2103 is primarily an ungraded dirt road. It is a narrow, rocky, and mildly rutted ride in the summer months; however, during times of heavy rain, snow, and ice, the road will become heavily rutted and harder to travel on. There could be areas of heavy mud and standing water. There are sections where the rocks are up to 18 inches high with a few ledges.

History

Trail 2103 is a jeep Badge of Honor Trail.

Completed this trail in a stock 2025 JLU Sport S with the stock HTX2 tires. It has been a very dry August so the only muddy areas on the trail are those that are spring or stream fed. I completed this trail heading from West to East (or South to North depending on how you look at it). The first part of the trail was a narrow, steep, rocky downhill section with a sharp left hand turn at the bottom that was very fun. The middle section is relatively smooth with a few damp spots and some very interesting rock formations on the left hand side. The final section has the largest rocks and careful planning/spotting was required to avoid scraping or hitting the differential cover. Overall it was a very fun first trail for this owner and it had some great photo opportunities between the rock ledges and the access to the Potomac.

The overall trail was enjoyable, though I did not get out as much to take pictures as it was muddier than anticipated. There are also a number rocky areas that can be traversed with a stock setup, as long as you plan your line correctly and take your time. However, I do not recommend you do the trail without rock sliders and proper skid plates.
