Trail Overview

This is a shortcut between Daughtery Rd, and New Hope on the DBBB. It is short, but has a steep descent towards Crooked Creek Road. It is a tight, rocky trail with some off-camber areas that can potentially push into the hillside. This is a great cut-through that saves a 30-minute drive on pavement while aired down.

Difficulty

Rock obstacles that will require skid plates and an off-camber area that has a pucker factor 4. There are ruts with washouts that have made the road narrow. The steep grades make breaking down the hill hard to completely control, so clearance is needed to avoid setting the undercarriage down hard on the rocks.

Attempted this trail in my stock Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness with 9 inches of ground clearance. I’m running a full set of aftermarket skid plates, which saved my under body, and with mild, all-terrain tires, I was able to complete 3/4 of the trail. I came to a washout that was beyond the vehicle capability and so I had to turn around.

Heavily eroded and rutted in places, made it through on 33”s but have to be careful with the line you take. If wet and slick best to have more clearance because you’ll be stuck in the ruts and can’t get around the larger exposed rocks
