Trail Overview
Rimshot FSR 124 is a scenic 1.5-mile route through the Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area, suitable for stock high-clearance 4WD vehicles. The trail transitions from gravel on its southern end to dirt on the north, featuring mild grades, minor ruts, and slight off-camber sections.
Seasonal rains can create water holes up to a foot deep. This trail serves as a connector between Tornado Valley FSR 112, FSR 117, and FSR 126, with nearby dispersed camping available off FSR 126 near the northern terminus.
Difficulty
The road includes a few off camber ruts, at least two water collection holes that probably are in the foot depth ballpark, and the gravel fades into dirt in areas.
Access Description
Vehicles operating on Forest Service roads within Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area must be street-legal and properly registered. Unlicensed off-highway vehicles (OHVs), such as ATVs or side-by-sides, are restricted to the designated Turkey Bay OHV Area and are not permitted on FSR 124. There are no fees or permits required to drive licensed vehicles on open forest service roads, though seasonal weather closures may apply.
