Trail Overview
Lady Cemetery FSR 128 is an easy, scenic 1.5-mile gravel and dirt forestry road in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, perfect for beginners and those seeking a quick drive to a historic viewpoint. This route winds through dense forest over rolling hills in the northeast corner of the peninsula, leading directly to the historic Lady Cemetery. The trail features minor washboarding, potholes, and occasional natural rocks protruding through the surface, with some sections fading into dirt. High-clearance vehicles and those with four-wheel-drive will easily navigate these minor obstacles, though two-wheel-drive vehicles with decent clearance can also manage the route during dry conditions.
As you traverse the trail, you will encounter a couple of steeper, rolling grades that are best tackled with steady momentum, especially when the surface is wet or muddy. The route reaches a maximum elevation of 483 feet and descends to 390 feet, offering a peaceful drive through the woods. At the trail's end, the Lady Cemetery provides a quiet spot for reflection along with expansive views overlooking the water toward Kuttawa, the water treatment plant, and the bustling interchange of Interstate 24 and Interstate 69. Because forest service roads in this recreation area require street-legal, licensed vehicles, this trail is ideal for stock sport utility vehicles, trucks, and dual-sport motorcycles, while unlicensed SxSs and ATVs are restricted from this area.
Access Description
Vehicles operating on Forest Service roads within the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area must be street-legal and properly licensed. Unlicensed off-highway vehicles, including ATVs and SxSs, are restricted to the Turkey Bay OHV Area and are not permitted on FSR 128. While no permit is required to drive open forest service roads, users should refer to the current Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) for seasonal closure details and regulations.
