Houchin Ferry - Mammoth Cave NP

Nice little drive down to the closed ferry. Very minor erosion on some downhill spots.

As mentioned it’s a simple out and back gravel track, starts off pretty wide gets narrower the farther in you get. Had the trail to myself but have to be honest about halfway in I really started dreading possibly running into someone coming back the other way, not a lot of room for a full size 3/4 ton supercab to pull off to the side or turn around. The end of the trail does have a grassy spot to turn around. Going out 2wheel drive is more than enough, heading back there were two spots where I think I would have struggled with grip without 4x4. Down near the river the short section of asphalt was damp algae covered slick, and up by the backcountry parking area was a loose washed out section.

Easy forest road that dead stops at the river. The steep climb down is paved but the rest is gravel.

All clear, simple gravel road down to the river.

Easy drive. Nothing technical. A few sneaky bumps. Be sure to walk down to ferry.

Easy drive down to the old ferry crossing.

Very easy ride on a dirt bike. No obstacles on the trail, only a few small washout areas. Very secluded and encountered no additional vehicle traffic. There was one person walking the trail and a group of horseback riders crossed the trail near the start. The picnic area around the halfway point is a great place to stop for a quick snack. Just be aware, the area has lots of flies because of the horse manure.

Still obstructed near end of trail. There is a small grassy shoulder that you can easily turn around

Extremely easy trail. Pretty scenery if you like woods. No water crossings.
