Trail Overview

FSR 319 is a short and challenging trail that takes you to Higgins Bay. This is a nice side road to take if running the Geezers Trail Part 1 (FSR 141) or if looking for a secluded camp spot. The trail is mostly downhill and will be more challenging if wet or raining. There are a few rutted areas and several mud holes to get through on this trail and not all of the obstacles have bypasses. The trail comes to an end at Higgins Bay with a nice level area for camping (room for 2-3 rigs) or to sit and enjoy the views of the bay. Be sure to pick up any trash you may come across and help keep the area and trail clean.

Difficulty

There are several mud holes and rutted areas that could be more challenging if wet or raining. A 2-inch lift, 33-inch tires, winch, and recovery gear are recommended. Cell service is not very good in this area.

Very muddy despite having such a dry summer, after the rain of the last few days, I can't imagine the mudholes are any less than fully topped off with water.

Just after the rain but several holes are rutted up and look to be deep. Very limited on turn around places. Would definitely recommend another vehicle with you or a winch. Made it in about halfway and didn’t chance it anymore since we were alone. Looks like it could be a lot of fun if you have recovery options. We’re on 33” gladiators, fairly aggressive mud tires.

The power wagon didn't have any trouble, till I high centered my diffs in some deep ruts in a mud hole (33" tires). Luckily my winch saved the day. I was able to navigate around it on the way out. It was relatively dry, so it would be more difficult when wet.
