Trail Overview

Clear Creek is a scenic out-and-back trail that follows a rocky creek bed. It is somewhat stock vehicle-friendly with correct line choices, but there are some slick rock ledges and harder lines if you want more adventure. Be mindful of pooled water areas where flow is not as apparent; this is a sign of deeper water. The deepest area is around 2 feet but can catch you by surprise if you're not paying attention to your surroundings. The water level will vary depending on rainfall levels. There's a solid rock bottom with crystal-clear water. A short walk of 50 yards past the end of the trail, you will find a pool of water deep enough to cool off in on a hot summer day.

Difficulty

This trail is rated a 5 due to a few water areas that can be up to 2 feet deep. Expect loose rocks and slick ledge climbs 1-2 feet high. Without the water level, the trail would be a 3 rating.

Open, water level low. Not too rough, can go over most rocks but good practice planning a line around them if you'd prefer.

Very nice trail that runs the entire creek bed. Under normal conditions the creek is very shallow at about 6” or less, 12” in some spots but very few. Trail is pretty easy but does get more difficult the further you go with some bigger rocks and small step climbs, had no trouble going around rocks though if you choose to do so.

Nice beginner trail. Water level is low. A couple of basic maneuvers to get around rocks/logs. Relaxing and enjoyable.

Could do mostly in 2wd but there are a couple good size slick rocks. Very slow because it’s very rocky, had a blast and it’s beautiful out there.

Dismiss of the trail in 4 high only going to low when got to the steps. When going under 65 stay to the left. Large hole hidden by the water. Was able to get out but was a surprise as the rest of the trail went so easy. Deepest water was under rock sliders.

I find this to be a nice scenic creek ride. Rocks and small ledges. The water pools are super clear so they can be a bit deeper than they seem though none deep enough to put water in the vehicle. I'd rate this as very stock friendly for any 4 x 4 with at least 12 inches of clearance and decent approach and departure angles. Go slow and enjoy it, we saw 3 deer one of which was a nice 6 point in velvet and a coyote drinking from the creek. Enjoy and pick a piece of trash or two up as you go along. Peace

Fun trail. Can’t believe more people don’t know about this ride. The difficulty level seems to increase as get further along the trail, but there’s plenty of room to run even a stock rig. Note that it’s been hot and dry so the water level was pretty low. Lots of pull offs to stop for lunch or to dip your feet on a hot day.

Trail is beautiful! Water was deep in some spots but had a blast! Took the trail a little bit past where it says it ends and ended up at a waterfall. There is a high wall that you have to climb in order to get to it. Wasn’t bad but I would advise if you go to see the waterfall when you get to that wall stay to the right.

Was under a flood watch/warning in the region. Water moving fast with a couple spots with over 24” of water but most of the trail ran 8-10”.
