Trail Overview

Carmack Bay FSR 121/121C is a Forest Service Road through Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. It is primarily a gravel road that shows serious degradation and wears throughout its path. It has major rutting, mud pits, heavy water collection areas, and one main steep grade leading down to the waterfront at Crab Bay. The road is a fair split between gravel, dirt, and broken-up old blacktop on the 121C section. Be warned of low lake water levels at the bay, the ground around it is still very soft. Wet conditions and rain increase the difficulty of this trail.

Difficulty

Picking a good line over the major rutting is key to passing this trail with ease, or having serious clearance and tire size. The water holes are probably every bit of 1 foot deep, this summer has been dry, and the trail has a few optional mud ruts you can run as well.
