Trail Overview
Horsepower Run is a serious mud challenge, not a casual trail. Expect deep clay pits and ruts capable of swallowing 40-inch tires without warning. Momentum is your only defense; hesitate and you’re stuck. Recovery is possible, so come equipped with a winch, straps, and a proper tree saver. The tree-lined edges offer anchor points, and there’s an area known as “Church,” where people can gather to watch rigs test fate. From "church," you can exit onto Garage Pass to bypass the second section of mud holes. There are no easy bypasses, only thick mud and ego checks. Bring friends, bring gear, and prepare to earn every inch.
Difficulty
Deep clay mud pits with no true bypasses. Mud can swallow 40" tires and will put you off camber. Winch, spotters, and recovery gear are required. Midway exit at “Church” to Garage Pass is the only bailout before the second section of mud holes. Not suitable for stock or solo vehicles.
History
This specific trail is formally known as Taco Bell, while the park was formerly known as Sandy Bottoms, and longtime visitors may still refer to it by that name. The access road and staging area have evolved over time, but it remains a well-known local spot for off-road events and community rides.
