Trail Overview

Homestead Creek USFS #216 from Fishhook-Gold Center to Clarkia Marble is an infrequently used gravel route at high elevation on a shelf road through the St. Joe National Forest. The roadway is rocky in sections, with steeper ascents and descents, and can be narrow and windy without places to pass other vehicles. Deer, elk, bear, and grouse are prevalent. There is no cell phone service or bathrooms on this route. There are occasional pullouts where you can camp along the roadway. For current conditions call the St. Joe Ranger District at 208-245-2531.

Was great till about the last mile. Few tight trees that a full size pickup wouldn't fit through then across the last bridge near the top the snow got deep. A light 4x4 or side by side could make it through but the snow was humped and my rig sank. Theres about 4' of snow through the middle. It was beyond my capability and I was alone so I didnt push it. Ill be trying again in a couple weeks.
