Trail Overview

The journey of this trail starts near Graveyard Point and winds down to the Succor Creek camping area. It offers a diverse terrain with small obstacles, making it exciting for beginners in off-roading. It's a dirt trail with quite a few rutted sections that aren't too deep. However, a 4x4 is required for this trail. The mix of gravel, rutted sections, rocks, and even a barbed-wire fence adds to the authenticity of the experience. Once coming down to Succor Creek, you'll have to get through a barbed-wire fence, be sure to leave it as you've found it. After passing the fence as you come down, the views of the rock formations are stunning, but there will be a slightly steep section with rocks--some are loose. One section is a bit narrow, but there's enough space to navigate. There are long stretches of enjoyable flat gravel with terrific views as you approach the Succor Creek area. Late spring is the perfect time to do this trail, as the wildflowers are in bloom and the landscape is a lush green. There are spots for dispersed camping before reaching the Succor Creek camping area.

Difficulty

This trail is easy for a high-clearance 4x4. It might be challenging in some deeper rutted sections for vehicles with less clearance, but it's very doable. There is one steep downhill with loose rocks. There are no restrictions for full-width 4x4, but it's not recommended.

I took this trail from Succor Creek headed East and intended to travel all the way to the highway. However, about 4 miles in, I encountered a narrow section that had ruts as deep as 4 feet. I have a 3 inch lift on my Tacoma with 34s so I have good clearance, but this was impassable for me especially since it was a little muddy from light rain. Im not sure that anyone should attempt this as there is a high probability that you’ll get stuck. The trail is also very narrow in this spot which would make recovery difficult. It’s a shame because I was really enjoying this road and wanted to complete, but my better judgement took over. Proceed at your own risk.

nice easy trail. The trail is rutted out but dry. About 75% through the trail the big rutt can be bypassed. Stock Jeeps

Took this trail with my Tacoma OR on KO3's hopping to make it to succor creek, but nearly 75% of the way there the trail hits a hill that goes up and is slanted down to the right with a massive rut all the way up it. rut is easily 24" at parts. the mud here too is very slick and very sticky. perhaps its doable when its all hard and solid but when it's muddy I wouldn't recommend it. most of the trail I did with just rwd, theres a few valleys between creeks that the mud can be a little slick though really not bad at all. some aread have some major washboards too. overall just that one deteriorated section makes it a no go.

I’m definitely not a professional off-roader but I don’t believe that this trail is rated properly. If the main sucker creek road is rated a 2-3 then this trail is a 4-5. Some really fun hill climbs and rock climbing involved. I took it slow lots of 4 low and easy going with my family in the rig did the trip from homedale to the camp ground in about 2.5 hours and had lots of fun. I never got into any spots I was super uncomfortable in and I thought it was an amazing road to work on some fundamentals of driving.
