Trail Overview

Red Root Road, also known as FSR 92, is a route that traverses the Lake Russel WMA from just outside Toccoa, GA to Mt. Airy, GA. This route can be used to access seasonal routes within the WMA area. Multiple areas can be found for camping, especially along the Middle Fork Broad River. If camping, please pack out what you pack in as this area is busy during summer. There are a few markers along the route that note some of the history of the region. These will look like little houses on a pole. These include a few home sites and cemeteries. The route can be traveled in 2WD by most vehicles.

Difficulty

Generally easy route, just be aware of other vehicles in the area. There were vehicles of all makes and models along the route. Could be a little slick in some areas after a rain.

It rained during the night accumulating small to large puddles on some parts of this road. The road itself is damp but packed. Just muddy in spots. Lots of washboard spots, pot holes, and some deep washouts that may make it difficult for regular vehicles to navigate some of the trail. Heavy leaf cover in spots making in difficult to see any washouts or holes.

Nice water/mud holes on sides of trails semi deep, terrain was moderate, trail was simple enough and didn’t require 4wd besides to get out of the mud if you went all the way in(I am running on all seasons no mud or all terrain tires.)Very fun trail took the fiancé and kid for some fun and we all had a great time!

The green FS road was easy and saw many stock vehicles. Had some fun on 92D. Had some steep drop offs and mud due to the rain. 92D was pretty overgrown and a stock car can make most of the obstacles but not all.
