Trail Overview
FS 287-C is a short, lightly traveled forest road through Osceola National Forest. The route follows an overgrown two-track surrounded by pine forest and dense vegetation, with a mostly firm dirt and sandy surface beneath tall grass. The trail is generally flat and straightforward, with no significant obstacles encountered during this trip. Vegetation growing within the roadway gives the route a more remote and seldom-traveled feel despite its relatively easy terrain. Conditions could become softer or wetter after heavy rain, but in dry conditions this is an easy forest-road drive and a quick way to explore another quieter section of the forest.
Difficulty
FS 287-C is an easy, mostly flat forest road with a firm dirt and sandy surface. The roadway is heavily overgrown with grass in places, but no significant ruts, rocks, washouts, steep grades, water crossings, or other technical obstacles were encountered. High vegetation can partially obscure the driving surface, so drivers should watch for hidden holes or debris. Wet weather could also soften the sandy surface and change conditions.
