Trail Overview

Bow Creek, FSR 955F, is a seasonally closed forest service road in the John Mountain Wildlife Management area. It is an in-and-out road and the travel time reflects this with the return trip. This forest service road affords great access for hunters with a few campsites along the way. Current 2024 MVUM maps list the open dates for this road to be 8/15-5/16. Please report any dumpsites or illegal activities to the Conasauga Ranger District at 706 695-6736.

Difficulty

The road is typical of most of the forest service roads in the area. Smooth gravel road with occasional potholes that can hold water. Any vehicle with some sort of ground clearance will be fine, but all-terrain tires are recommended if venturing out while it is wet.

Went on a rainy day to get some mud on the wheels. Wide trail with no big obstacles. Some muddy areas and ruts but nothing crazy. Would recommend 4 wheel drive on a rainy day

Few deep puddles, trees have been moved from the road. Did the whole road in 2 wheel drive.
