Trail Overview

Like many dirt roads in Connecticut, this one winds through the Babcock Pond Wildlife Management Area, offering a fun and scenic ride. Expect a few deep mud holes--nothing a stock 4WD vehicle can't handle with a bit of caution. After rainfall, some mud holes can exceed 12 inches in depth. The road is narrow in spots, but there are areas to pull over and let other vehicles pass. Several ponds along the route are accessible by short hikes, making this a great spot for both off-roading and enjoying nature.

Difficulty

This is a mostly dirt/rocky trail with multiple mud holes. While mostly easygoing, there are a few mud holes that can reach over 12 inches deep after heavy rain--use caution if you're in a stock 4WD vehicle. The road is generally narrow but has occasional pull-offs to allow vehicles to pass.

Northern half is a basic dirt road. Southern half gets interesting. Small stream crosses the road and some large mud holes. Finishing off with a rocky stretch.
