Cold Springs Road

This short, unmaintained dirt road offers a rugged entryway into the 5,000-acre Naugatuck State Forest. Most of the trail is only one vehicle wide and runs directly alongside an active railroad, adding a unique backdrop to the drive. While brief, the route features deep ruts and significant mud puddles where a minimum of 12 inches of ground clearance is highly recommended, especially if your vehicle lacks AWD or 4WD. The dirt track concludes at the Spruce Brook Trail parking area, providing a perfect staging spot for the scenic hike up to the nearby waterfalls.
