Trail Overview

Tomichi Pass divides Middle Quartz Creek to the north from Tomichi Creek to the south. From Brittle Silver Basin at the north end, you reach the top of Tomichi Pass quickly. The 4WD road comes out of Brittle Silver Basin near a mine and heads up a narrow ledge road toward Tomichi Pass between Paywell Mountain and Central Mountain. As you climb higher past the timberline, the Jeep trail becomes a single lane. Be aware of oncoming traffic. The top of Tomichi Pass is short with very little room for vehicles. You will have a great view of the west side of Hancock Pass and Middle Quartz Creek. Continuing over the pass, the road follows a valley down to the timberline and ties in with the Tomichi Creek drainage. At the southern end of Tomichi Pass is the old Tomichi Cemetery.

Approached from the south side, went over the pass and encountered rock slide(s) 1/4 mile down from the pass on the north side. Not passable. After backing up 200 yards and turning around in the only spot possible I saw a construction 🚧 sign laying down way below the trail.

That loose shelf road we took it the opposite way going down and the loose gravel was sliding had no time for pictures after looking at someone’s truck down in the bottom wasn’t stopping for pictures. Don’t get scared often this one I said a few prayers!!!

When coming down Hancock pass you will see what looks like a landslide. This landslide has been cleared and the pass is able to be completed. The rock that is left is loose so be careful

Great trail except for one slide "repair" very loose and steep past the summit. Made it in a stock 4 Runner just fine. A little harrowing at the slide.

Great trail but blocked at the very top with deep snow see pictures, the first part where my truck was could have been possible but the second picture shows that there was about 7 ft of snow and the taco was not getting through that.

Not completely obstructed but a sign warns of a landslide making the trail impassible for full size vehicles. I attempted the road in my LR4 but chose to back down as the affected section was hardly wider than my vehicle and the loose rocks made it unsafe to drive up with so little room next to the drop-off.
