Trail Overview

Snowshoe is most likely the most challenging trail in the area. The trail is extremely steep and loose. The grade is unrelenting and consistent throughout most of the trail. The trail descends from East to West. The trail has an elevation change of over 1,300 feet in a little over a mile, challenging in either direction. The midsection tends to be more loose gravel/sand and is primarily in a deep wash, while the eastern section is more loose rock. This trail can be ridden in a loop with Ute Creek. I recommend expert riders only and would not recommend riding this alone.

This trail rating is quite accurate only thing I would change is I’d say it’s a 9 going down but a 10 going up lol. I took Ute to the bottom of this trail and went up. I would say don’t attempt to go up this if you don’t have tubliss or a very soft moose, I have tubliss and had to air my tire down all the way and still fought for traction the entire way up. The lower two thirds is extremely loose and deep silty rock with a few ledges you can barely get a run up to, once you get to the upper third the traction does get better but the rocks and ledges get bigger up until the last 100 yards or so when you can finally open it up to climb out of the top. Good luck
