Trail Overview

Slate River Road is one of the prettiest drives Crested Butte has to offer. It's a well-maintained dirt road that leads to many activities such as camping, biking, hiking, kayaking, etc. It's passable by most any vehicle and has views that just keep on giving. It has many different camping areas along the route and outhouses along the way. This road features the Slate River along the entire drive.

Difficulty

This road is passable by just about any vehicle. It's maintained very well and only features some minor bumps and dips most of the way until after Pittsburgh, where there are a couple of sections that will require clearance from vehicles like a stock SUV. These obstacles are very easy to pass.
