Trail Overview
The Rampart Crossover trail offers a mix of flowy terrain with technical challenges scattered throughout. Drivers will encounter berms, hairpins, banked corners, and occasional blind turns, adding variety and excitement to the ride. This is an unmaintained trail that has varying terrain of rock sections, hills with loose rocks and erosion, and banked turns on blind corners. Parts of this trail may become problematic after a moisture event and with prolonged use.
History
Rampart Crossover winds through Colorado’s alpine forests and meadows, showcasing a variety of flora including aspens, pines, and wildflowers. Wildlife such as elk, deer, and small mammals are often visible along the trail. While primarily a recreational route today, the trail follows historical grazing and forest access paths that have been used for decades to reach remote areas. Scenic viewpoints along the route offer expansive vistas of surrounding ridges, valleys, and alpine landscapes, making it both a visually stunning and technically rewarding experience for off-road enthusiasts.
