Plateau Road

Plateau Road is a scenic, 2.4-mile unpaved connector route in the San Juan National Forest of southwestern Colorado. The wide, two-vehicle road winds through open alpine pastures and active cattle grazing lands, offering gentle grades and scenic forest views at elevations between 7,793 and 7,942 feet. With a technical rating of 1, the dirt and rocky road is suitable for high-clearance 2WD and standard 4WD vehicles when dry. The surface can become extremely slick and muddy during wet weather. The route has minimal elevation change, making it a gentle drive that provides quick access to adjacent trail systems.
