Trail Overview

This secluded trail is surrounded by private property. Bring a GPS and use directions so you don't get lost. This is a fun area for unlicensed vehicles, and is open all year. For a longer adventure, take this trail with Moon Gulch.

Difficulty

Difficult. Applies to two sections, which can be bypassed. Tight brush and several narrow steep climbs. Not recommended for shiny new SUVs or oversize vehicles. The large gate at Waypoint 09 looked like it hadn't been used in a long time.

There was a big snow bank blocking the trail about halfway up (before it meets up with Michigan Hill) that looks impassible. Also, right before the snow bank the route is somewhat off camber and the snow is icy and slick.

Trail was fun/good trail. it has been bull dozed early this year and is very easy to the top of mountain. What took hours before is now minutes. Used to be two difficult areas up to top is now only one, and is not very difficult.

There are a lot of side trails attached to pickle gulch. I used the offline map feature of the area (definitely needed) and ended up checking out Steven's gulch.

The trail is just rough, narrow and steep rating is fairly accurate (2” lift on 33 ZR2 Colorado)

Not busy at all in the afternoon. East entrance has a large mud hole with a steep ledge, but there is a bypass. Can be done on 31" tires and a mild lift as long as you go slowly in the latter rock field section. Private property signs are haphazardly placed this year. Stay on the trail and you'll be just fine.

I dont think this trail should be rated black it's about a 3 out of 10 all obstacles can be bypassed and most of the road is flat rock road. nothing intense on this trail. maybe in the winter it's black.

once the trail forks off in different directions the snow gets very deep. we plowed through some of the drifts and still had fantastic day. The whole trail cannot be done yet due to snow. probably 2 more weeks of sunshine should do it.

this trail can get hairy for sure. but make sure you have high clearance and choose your lines carefully. Keep close eye on your destination. Seems like you can get lost pretty easily here .

Trail dozed recently, lots of trees with stumps pushed out of way. 2/10 difficulty on lower part of trail. Still fun! No difficult spots except for a loose rocky section that can be ran with a good skinny pedal. No obstacles. Lots of trails scattered around that this app doesn’t show. Could get lost easy without GPS

A fun technical trial. Definitely make sure to use your gps, very easy to accidentally end up off the trail. Rocky and narrow most of the way. Did it in a 2006 tundra on 33s, hit the diff a few times but no issues.
