Trail Overview

This is a short drive with easy access to outstanding views. There are a few small campsites along the route. Unlicensed vehicles are only allowed on FS 322 after the forest boundary line. Note: The parking area at the start is on private property and may not be used for public parking or unloading. Those with trailers will have to park along the narrow road at the bottom. The road is closed from December 1 to April 15.

Difficulty

This road is moderate. Most of the road is easy except near the top, where a narrow shelf road may intimidate novice drivers. Most stock, high-clearance 4x4 SUVs can do it. Low-range gearing is needed for the steepest climbs. Snow may block the trail at the top as late as June or July.

Trail was open with absolutely no snow. There were some others parked along the trail presumably to hike to the top. Two dirt bikes and one other truck on the trail just to drive. Great weather and unbelievable views. Very limited on space and areas to pass other rigs so be prepared to possibly back up quite a ways if needed.

Very nice kind of steep ride for motorcycles. Little rocky but not too bad. If you're in a jeep/4x4, and came across another vehicle, you might be backing down a ways to get to a spot wide enough to pass. The last picture is of a fairly steep almost rock wall at the very end.

This trail is very narrow. Many many wholes in the road, bumps and trees. Some sharp turns.

Deep pitting about 1 mile in to trail, 1-2ft holes. Last stretch of the trail to summit is very steep and rough but otherwise most of the trail is in good condition. Most of the trail can be done in 2wd.
