Miners Creek Road (Forest Service Road 507) is a scenic, 1.7-mile dirt and gravel route near Creede, Colorado. The road climbs gently from 8,825 feet to 9,029 feet, offering an easy drive through the Rio Grande National Forest. Surrounded by the San Juan Mountains, aspens, and conifers, this route is highly popular during the autumn leaf-peeping season.
Paralleling Miners Creek, the road provides convenient access to dispersed camping, fly fishing, and hiking trailheads. The route is generally suitable for two-wheel-drive, high-clearance vehicles under dry conditions, though four-wheel drive is recommended when wet. It also serves as a gateway to more rugged off-road trails within the historic Creede Mining District.
Access Description
The road is managed by the U.S. Forest Service as part of the Rio Grande National Forest. A small portion of the road passes through private property near the beginning; visitors must remain on the designated road and respect private property boundaries. No permits or fees are required for driving or dispersed camping.
