Trail Overview

Along this out-and-back road you will have plenty of opportunities for camping specifically in the first half of the road, which is also well-maintained. The further up the mountain you go, the more uneven and rutted the road becomes. Beware of some private property at the beginning, as well as, cattle throughout.

The majority of this road is well-maintained gravel with only a few short sections of rutter/uneven road towards the top. All 4x4s and most SUVs with some clearance will have no issues completing the entire out-and-back route.

Many campers on lower spots. A few muddy uphill areas. Very little snow left on the ground.

Lots of great camping lower down, with beautiful aspen groves higher up. The trail is a 1/10 difficulty until the second cattle guard, where it raises to a 3/10. Until then any SUV could easily access it; after that point, you'll want a 4x4.
