Most of the pass was rocky, bumpy, and slow going, but passable. Large areas of ice toward the top made the road too dangerous to continue. More than one vehicle was unable to continue past mile 6 due to the ice.

Almost got to the top today, 50 mph winds towards the top once you get to the shelf part of the road the 4 inches of snow is pure hard ice , so with the winds blowing you around on the ice it became very sketchy, 70 degrees at the bottom and 35 degrees at the top

Don’t be stubborn- air down at the start. Gives Lake Como vibes, without the big obstacles though. Lots of rocks and some tight switchbacks. Loved it.

At just over 13,000’, Hermit Pass is one of the highest roads in Colorado. The road is very rough, with plenty of rocks to maneuver over but no challenging obstacles. It is slow going with great views. Our reason for the drive was to use the Land Rover as a base for hikes over several of the passes in the wilderness area and to climb some 13ers. There were very few vehicles or hikers.

The trail is very rough…large rocks along 90% of the trail. I went anywhere from 1-7mph, mostly in the 2-4mph range in a stock Bronco Badlands (Sasquatch). There is some snow near the top but it’s negotiable (stay to the left and you make it).

Snow on last switchback on the last .25 miles. Not worth taking the chance. Clear the rest of the way

Almost made it to the top but last quarter mile covered in snow and didn’t want to risk it. Should be good to go in a few weeks.

Tried to go up Hermit pass today, got into 6-8” snow from the start, made it to about 1.3 miles and it was about 20-24” and we were turtling in the snow and sliding off the road. Dug and throttled out knowing it was only gonna get deeper and steeper as continue…. Wait till spring or buy some snow tracks.

While it's an easy trail, it's rocky & has narrow switchbacks. We got close to the top but there was too much snow to finish the trail. Also experienced thunder, rain and snow on the decent but had no issues with slick rocks.

Couldn’t make the summit due to snow. Room enough for a 4 wheeler to pass but not a truck. Extremely rough terrain. Running on a lifted Tacoma on 33”s aired down. Average of 4 mph due to never ending rocks. If not in a 4 wheeler or smaller there’s a switchback with a good amount of room to turn around above horseshoe lake

Still a small patch of deep snow/mud just above the tree line. Had to pull someone out. Trail is super rocky pretty much the whole way so be prepared. Nothing too technical. Water crossings were 12" or less. Several of great campsites and some trailheads along the route.
