Trail Overview

The Greenwood Trail is a fun trail that begins near the Battlement Lakes. The trail is generally easy going as it alternates between woods and meadows. This trail lacks any significant features, but has four fairly rocky and moderately steep grades. There are a few shallow stream crossings. Obstacles on the trail are up to one foot. There is an abundance of cattle grazing in the area, so be cautious on some of the low-visibility turns.

I rode this from South to North towards the lakes on my CF Moto Ibex 450 adventure bike. This was about as challenging and rocky as I would want riding solo on an adventure bike. From the direction I rode, it actually started out fine but after the intersection with the Bull & Brown trail, things got a bit more spicy and rocky pretty quickly. Going the opposite direction. There would also be a few good climbs on a motorcycle that would be on the challenging side. One water crossing looked pretty intimidating, especially with some buried rocks, but it wasn't as bad as it looked. Once onto Granby road heading towards the highway it stayed rocky but it was very doable.
