Trail Overview

Emerald Lake Road is an offshoot of 317. This road dips down and takes you right to Emerald Lake, which is a beautiful and popular attraction in the area. The road has some ruts in it, but nothing too major, as it takes you to the main parking area for the lake. This parking area can fit many cars. The road continues around the lake to the other side, though it does have deeper ruts than the initial section, and sometimes can be impassable with a deep water crossing depending on the water conditions of the year. It's gorgeous on both sides of the lake, and I highly recommend making it to the other side if you can.

Difficulty

The most difficult part of this road is the ruts and water crossing if there. Otherwise, it's pretty easy to drive over to the other side. Some clearance is recommended. Stock SUVs shouldn't have an issue as long as the road isn't flooded.
