Trail Overview
Seasonal closure: December 15–April 14. Use caution when entering from the highway—the pullout is difficult to see and sits on a hill with fast-moving traffic. Within the first 20 yards, there is a small campsite for 1–2 vehicles, making it a convenient spot for a quick break or overnight stay close to the highway. The narrow trail consists mostly of fine dirt that can become extremely difficult when wet, with 8–12-inch ruts, washouts, whoops, and sections putting you 8–10° off-camber. The route offers scenic views of the valley and mountains and provides access to the area near Woolford Reservoir. At 1.4 miles, another level campsite accommodates 2–3 vehicles with excellent views.
This area is also popular for wildlife viewing, with abundant deer frequently seen along the trail.
Difficulty
At least 14 inches of front-end clearance is recommended, with 4WD or AWD highly recommended, especially in wet conditions.
