Trail Overview
The Corral Creek Road is a delightful and highly scenic backcountry adventure that branches directly off the well-known Grouse Mountain Trail. The journey begins conveniently at a massive, easily accessible parking area that offers ample room to comfortably accommodate all sizes of vehicles, including large trucks, extended trailers, and spacious campers. As drivers leave the staging area, the trail immediately transitions into a predominantly packed dirt surface. In these initial stretches, the route features undulating 6 to 8-inch ruts that provide a fun, mild introduction to the terrain; however, adventurers must exercise strict caution and entirely avoid this route during or immediately following any rainfall, as the unique local soil conditions quickly transform into a notoriously slick, difficult-to-navigate mess. As you venture further along the path, the ruggedness noticeably intensifies, presenting deeper, more demanding 12 to 14-inch ruts and larger obstacles. Throughout this beautiful journey, explorers will discover multiple pristine dispersed campsites that offer breathtaking, unobstructed mountain views, making them perfect stopping points for an overnight stay or a relaxing midday break. The route ultimately concludes at the prominently marked BLM boundary, wrapping up a wonderfully engaging and visually rewarding off-road experience.

Corral Creek Road presents an engaging, easy level 3 difficulty that is highly suitable for most high-clearance four-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive vehicles. The early sections of the packed dirt trail feature manageable 6 to 8-inch ruts, but the terrain becomes noticeably more challenging further in, with deeper 12 to 14-inch ruts and larger obstacles that demand careful tire placement and adequate ground clearance to avoid undercarriage damage. Additionally, weather plays a critical factor on this trail; the specific dirt composition becomes exceptionally slippery and hazardous when wet, meaning travel must be strictly limited to completely dry conditions to ensure a safe and successful passage.
