Trail Overview

This route begins at a gated forest access point and quickly transitions from a wide, well-maintained dirt road into a narrower two-track that winds deeper into the pines. From the start, the trail gradually descends about 700 feet, moving through rolling terrain with a mix of open forest and tighter tree cover. Early sections are smooth and easy, but the trail narrows as it continues, with more defined ruts, light erosion, and off-camber spots beginning to show. Snow tends to linger in shaded areas, creating a mix of packed dirt, shallow snow, and occasional slick sections depending on sun exposure. As you continue downhill, the trail becomes a bit more engaging, with deeper ruts, uneven surfaces, and minor natural obstacles like embedded rock, small washouts, and scattered downed timber. Nothing overly technical, but enough to require some attention to line choice—especially in winter conditions where traction can vary. The setting stays consistently scenic, with dense pine stands, pockets of aspens, and occasional filtered views through the forest as the trail works its way lower.

Difficulty

This trail sits in the easy-to-moderate range depending on conditions. Dry, it’s manageable for most high-clearance vehicles, but snow, ice, and rutted sections can add a bit of technical challenge. Drivers with some basic off-road experience will find it straightforward, while beginners may need to take it slow in the more uneven sections.
