Cake Ridge Spur Road

This route climbs out of the Cow Creek area and into the surrounding foothills, offering impressive views of the Sawatch Range and the valleys below. The majority of the trail is relatively straightforward, but two muddy water crossings near the beginning can present a challenge depending on water levels and recent weather conditions. Most of the route is closer to a 2 in difficulty, though the crossings can increase the overall rating by a level. Beyond the crossings, expect an enjoyable drive through scenic mountain terrain with expansive views and a quieter atmosphere than many of the more heavily traveled routes around Taylor Park Reservoir.
