Trail Overview
Burns Park Road starts out flat and easy with a few washouts and ruts, winding through a valley with beautiful views of Pilot Peak. As you start to climb in altitude, you'll encounter switchbacks with off-camber sections and small obstacles. Exiting the switchbacks on the west side, you'll come across some larger boulders that require high clearance 4x4 to traverse. The last half mile of the trail is the most difficult, with loose rock, small boulders, steep grades, and some ledges around 12 inches tall. The trail ends with a small creek crossing and a large turnaround area. Sections of this trail border private land, so please be mindful. There are several well-established camp sites along the route, some with views. There is full cell service on the east side of the trail, but the west side will not have any.
Difficulty
The trail starts out easy, and the difficulty progressively increases as you proceed. A high-clearance 4x4 will be required to access the majority of the trail. Full-sized vehicles will be able to drive this route with careful maneuvering.
