Trail Overview

BLM 8600I starts off of Highway 131 across from the dirt pull-off/staging area. It starts on a sandy trail that parallels the highway with lots of whoops. It turns south on a fast and flowy trail despite so many whoops, going in and out of the pinyon pine. Then it starts to switchback up the mesa and turns into a really rocky trail. The switchbacks have some small boulders in the turn, so they are more technical, and the trail starts to have a lot of embedded chunky slab rock in it. It continues south with a lot of technical downhills with rock ledges covered in loose dirt. There is one big 4-foot high slick rock face you have to get up. A lot of times you can pick an alternate line that is easier since the trail and the obstacles are really wide and there are alternate lines through the obstacle.
