Trail Overview

This BLM route begins where Trail 21 ends and descends into the scenic canyon and meadow below. The trail offers an enjoyable mix of flowing terrain, with several steeper cutoff options that add a bit of challenge for those seeking a more technical line. As the route drops into the meadow, a series of well-formed bermed corners creates a fun and engaging descent. Once on the valley floor, the final mile and a half becomes relatively flat and smooth, providing an easy cruise through open terrain. Along the way, you’ll notice an extensive network of mountain bike trails on the hillsides to the right, and it is common to encounter cyclists climbing and descending throughout the area. Near the end of the route, signs mark the beginning of a non-motorized zone where vehicle travel is prohibited. Although the trail comes very close to connecting with Eagle and the nearby highway, motorized users must turn around at this point, making the route an out-and-back adventure. Fortunately, the climb back out of the meadow is just as enjoyable as the descent, offering excellent views and a rewarding finish to the ride.

Difficulty

This is not a particularly difficult trail, although it does feature a few steeper sections than the access road leading into the area. In dry conditions, most vehicles with adequate ground clearance can complete the route without difficulty, and experienced drivers in 2WD vehicles should have little trouble making the descent into the valley and the climb back out. As always, traction and difficulty can increase significantly following rain or snow.
