Trail Overview

The overall environment offers a beautifully wide-open, sun-drenched desert landscape with sweeping views of the distant mountain ridges under expansive skies that occasionally fill with dramatic, hazy smoke. Your trip takes approximately seven minutes to complete the 1.3-mile distance, reflecting an average speed of about 11 mph that allows for a highly relaxing, scenic drive. This shared-use route is open to hikers, horseback riders, mountain bikers, and all motorized vehicles, so always stay observant of crossing traffic as you navigate the dirt. The route conveniently begins right at the end of BLM 166, where private land boundaries halt further travel on the previous path. As you journey through the low-lying brush, you will find a fantastic dispersed campsite located around the 1.2-mile mark, providing a highly scenic and simple place to pull over and spend the night. Overall, this is an incredibly accessible outdoor adventure that provides wonderful desert scenery and solid camping opportunities for a variety of outdoor enthusiasts.

Difficulty

The trail surface consists primarily of fine, loose desert dirt marked by relatively shallow six- to eight-inch ruts. The terrain remains highly manageable and flat throughout the journey, comfortably accommodating most setups, including those towing trailers. However, because the path is composed of such soft soil, it becomes extremely slick and deeply hazardous to drive during or after any rainfall. Under dry conditions, simply maintain a steady, relaxed speed and carefully steer through the dusty, carved tire tracks visible in the photos to protect your undercarriage from any minor high-centering.
