Trail Overview

This trail provides a back way to or from the top of High Rock Canyon trail/Stevens Camp out to County Road 34. There are a couple of large washes you cross and it is a bit rocky but other than that if the trail is dry it is pretty mellow. It is a very remote location as the BLM signs say you are on your own. There is no cell service and the closest town/civilization is approximately 55 miles by dirt over a couple of mountain passes. There is a spring at Stevens Camp that you can get water from if need be.

Difficulty

The trail is very remote and can be impassable if wet. There are a few spots the trail can wash out if there is a thunderstorm in the area. There are a few rocky sections that can be tuff on tires.

History

High Rock Canyon trail is part of the Applegate Trail established in 1846. The Cabin as it stands was built by Ernest L. Ford "Tennessee Ernie Ford" Famous for the Song Sixteen Tones.
