Trail Overview

This trail winds along the side of Peckinpah Mountain and is generally only single vehicle-width at best in most places. The surface consists primarily of packed dirt with embedded small and larger rocks. There are a few short rocky ledge sections, and ruts and mud holes can be present along the route. Some areas pass through sections where the forest has burned, so be aware that there may be unstable trees nearby or newly fallen ones across the trail. At one point, the trail runs along a cliff shelf that provides a panoramic view of the North Fork area. Moderate to high clearance is recommended. Depending on weather conditions, 4WD may be necessary if the trail is muddy. Dispersed camping is allowed up to 150 feet away from either side of the trail. Weak to no cellular service is available in the area. Tread Lightly and Pack-It-Out.

Difficulty

Trail surface is primarily dirt with embedded rocks. There are short rock ledges and ruts in a few places. The trail also becomes rather narrow in some stretches due to overgrown vegetation, which may restrict larger vehicles. Small to larger-sized log obstacles may be present across the trail occasionally. Moderate to high clearance is recommended, and 4WD is suggested, especially in wet/muddy conditions.
