Trail Overview

The overall environment of this secondary route, which branches off to the right from the main Pole Creek Spur, offers a serene and deeply wooded journey as it traverses down the hillside toward the front face of the beautiful mountain. It is a true "spur off a spur," providing a wonderfully quiet, isolated escape into the dense, towering evergreen forest. As you progress along the track, the lush green brush and smaller pine saplings begin to crowd the edges of the path, giving it a delightfully rustic, untamed feel. The route steadily continues downhill until it reaches a definitively abandoned section of the forest. Here, the journey abruptly ends where a couple of large, downed trees have fallen across the path. These trees haven't been bucked, and the road looks to be abandoned beyond this point.

Difficulty

Earning a very mild difficulty rating of 2 out of 10, the trail surface consists mostly of a good, packed dirt road blanketed in soft pine needles, though it does feature a few scattered, easily manageable obstacles. As you make your way down the hill, you will encounter sections lightly littered with loose, fist-sized rocks and uneven cobble that require a bit of careful steering. Additionally, there are a few distinct muddy puddles accompanied by soft, shallow ruts that span portions of the track. To protect your undercarriage, simply maintain a slow, steady momentum to gently roll over the rocky sections, and pick thoughtful lines through the water holes to avoid the deepest muddy tire tracks. Finally, be prepared for the encroaching leafy brush to lightly sweep against your doors as the trail narrows near the final fallen logs.
