Trail Overview

This is an out-and-back trail that splits from Fish Creek wash in the Sandstone Canyon area of Anza Borrego State Park. Just before the end of the trail, there is a small fork; to the right, there is a small dispersed campsite with a fire ring, to the left, the wash ends at the wilderness boundary at the base of the Olla Mud Palisades.

Unexpected highlight of the day. We did some spur trails off the north fork and sandstone canyon but the mud palisades were the highlight. We climbed up them a ways and explored the area. The trail in was empty and not any more difficult than sandstone canyon. Highly recommend to take a visit if in the area. The trail ends abruptly in a narrow passage, if you have high enough clearence you can turn around but I backed down 30ft to a spot I could easily turn around.

Trail was open and no obstructions. We walked around the mud palisades for a while. Cool canyon.
