Trail Overview
This trail features a mix of soft sand, hard surface, and lots of small scattered rocks, creating varied and unpredictable traction conditions. The route winds back and forth up and down hills, somewhat following the power lines as a reference for navigation. You'll encounter lots of off-camber sections in and out of washes with uneven surfaces throughout that demand constant attention. This side of the mountain is more rugged, with a lot more scattered rocks and unforgiving barren land, creating a harsher and more challenging environment compared to other areas around Superstition Mountain.
Difficulty
The combination of lots of off-camber sections, uneven surfaces, and mixed soft sand, hard surface, and rocks creates a technically demanding ride. The in and out of washes add vertical challenges that require careful approach angles. The lots of small scattered rocks are constant obstacles requiring careful line choice. The winding up and down hills demands skilled throttle control and momentum management. Four wheel drive and high clearance are recommended for this more rugged side of the mountain. The unforgiving terrain leaves little margin for error.
