Trail Overview

There are two Mosquito Ridge Roads in this area, the main one connects Foresthill to French Meadows to the West, and that road is paved. This road is on the East side of the Lake and is a fun dirt road with seasonal water crossings, tree falls to navigate, and connects Foresthill Road Trail to French Meadow Lake. The Trail can be narrow in some areas and has some rocky sections that are best accomplished with a high clearance 4x4 - some Subaru and SUV vehicles could also navigate this trail with some spotting and expert driving. Excellent views can be had from many spots along the Trail, along with wildlife such as deer, coyote, and bear.

Difficulty

Depending on the time of year, this trail can be a 3 or a 4 difficulty. Early in the season, there can be snow and tree falls that make things difficult. Full-width 4x4 should take note that there may be some pin-striping opportunities.
