Trail Overview

Out and back, the trail descends from the start. About 1.8 miles in, you’ll find the Trailhead for the Sailor Flat hiking trail. There are multiple washes, some of which can be high-centered if you’re not tall enough or don’t approach them at the right angle. There are also a few rock gardens, and there are multiple lines possible, so you can make the trail easier or harder. The trail has steep grades, and there are several really nice dispersed camping areas. Some of these areas look like spur roads, but once you enter them, they are actually dispersed camp spots.

Difficulty

The trail is mostly single-wide but has areas to turn around or pass. It’s not very well-maintained, so there may be fallen trees or rocks. If it’s wet, the trail will be much harder, especially due to its steepness.
