Trail Overview
This narrow dirt-and-gravel trail climbs Liberty Hill through frequent rocks and rock gardens, with 6–8 inch ruts and 2–8 inch rocks near the beginning. Around 0.2 miles, a steep hill climb includes rock ledges reaching 15–18 inches tall. 4WD or AWD is required. Around 0.5 miles, the trail becomes significantly narrower with overgrown vegetation that makes pinstriping highly likely. Around 0.4 miles, a level campsite for two vehicles and a nearby viewpoint provide expansive views over the surrounding forest and mountains, with parking for approximately four vehicles. Around 0.5 miles, a level, shaded cliffside campsite accommodates up to six vehicles. The route eventually reaches a locked gate at the Big Prather Meadow private game reserve.
Difficulty
This trail is rated Level 4 because of the steep hill climbs, 15–18 inch rock ledges, 6–8 inch ruts, frequent rock gardens, and narrow, overgrown terrain. 4WD or AWD is required for the more technical climbing sections.
