Trail Overview

This scenic 3-mile out-and-back trail climbs nearly 300 feet in just over 2 miles and runs parallel to Twin Lakes Road, offering a quiet dirt alternative to the pavement. The route begins just past the Twin Lakes area within the Twin Lakes Recreation Area. The trail is sandy and one vehicle wide, lined with thick, low sagebrush, scattered pines, and large boulders. Heading toward Twin Lakes, you'll take in dramatic views of the Sawtooth Range and Hoover Wilderness. Traveling the opposite direction, Mount Patterson and Round Mountain appear in the distance. About a mile from Twin Lakes Road, the trail opens into a broad meadow before crossing LeBrosse Creek, where a short off-camber section briefly has you driving partially in the creek. The trail continues until a locked gate at a private cattle area, which now shortens the route into an out-and-back.
