Trail Overview
This is a single-track loop route through the southern portion of the Keyesville Special Recreation Area. It is comprised of several different terrain challenges, including flat and fast sections, elevated hillside sections, and narrow rocky climbs. There will be great scenic views of the Kern River and Lake Isabella/Bodfish from high points along the trail. Overall, this is a fun trail and a good warm-up for some of the more difficult trails in the area. A Green Sticker permit is required for dirt bike use. Be advised that Green Sticker OHVs are not allowed on the main roads in the area, but there are designated roadside trails through the Keyesville Special Recreation Area that allow travel of OHVs to and from different trail sections and the parking/staging areas. Also, this trail is a favorite of mountain bikers, so be alert for their presence on the trail. The trail is open year-round. Stay on the designated trail paths, Tread Lightly, and Pack-It-Out.
Difficulty
This trail is primarily packed dirt and loose soil with embedded rocks in some short sections. There are a few short climbs and descents and places where the trail passes over or between large rocks. The trail is only single track in most places, with occasional areas to pull to the side to let others pass.
