Trail Overview
Access via Horse Canyon (FS 8N27). This trail offers a fun out-and-back run or can be ridden continuously via the bypass. Note that the historically marked trail is permanently blocked by a berm and rocks, but a well-traveled bypass detour leads around the closure. Horse Peddler features moderate technical challenges, including long, steep, loose rocky climbs, tight turns, and narrow sections with limited turnaround or passing space. Drivers will encounter deep ruts and side slopes with up to a 17-degree camber. Conditions vary significantly by season: expect heavy dust during dry summer months, while post-precipitation weather introduces deep mud holes that can render the trail impassable.
Difficulty
This trail earns a 3 rating for obstacles up to 12 inches, though wet conditions can quickly render it impassable. Expect tight, overgrown vegetation with low overhead clearance alongside steep, rocky sections that require at least high clearance and rear lockers to navigate safely.
