Trail Overview

If you like rocks, Gold Mountain is going to be right up your alley. The trail is famous for punishing technical rock waterfalls, bumpy surfaces, and relentless rocky obstacles that keep you on your toes. On four wheels, you’ll need to tackle the technical gate-keeper obstacle at the base of the trail, while bikes can sneak around it. This route takes you through the Erzberg section and doesn’t shy away from the more challenging lines, offering plenty of options for riders and drivers looking to test their skills. The terrain shifts constantly, with tight sections, off-camber rocks, and steep climbs that make every turn a challenge. It’s not a trail for beginners, but the payoff is epic views and a sense of accomplishment when you clear the tougher sections. Gold Mountain is rough, technical, and rewarding, making it a must-ride for anyone chasing a serious off-road adventure.

Beautiful scenery on this trail. I would say the gate keeper entrance are the biggest rocks you’ll see but it’s not the hardest part. I would say it’s second “hardest” the 4th obstacle in when you’re right before halfway is tightly tougher in my opinion.

The gate keeper is the largest rocks you will come across but it’s not the most technical aspect of the trail. There are a couple spots on the ascent that are somewhat tricky but is no problem for front and rear locker vehicles. Rear locker only vehicles will have to carry momentum on some parts.

Looks like you can still do this on 31.5s. I loved everything about it. Was everything as I was expecting from the youtube videos i seen. And it was my first time

Super fun but challenging. Definitely wouldn’t do without sliders or skids.

Dusty and rocky as expected. It’s been 6years since I last ran the trail and it’s changed significantly. Holes are deeper and rock ledges are taller. Still a safe trail to run solo if you make good decisions.

Started the trail on Monday February 16th as the snow began to come down. Made it over the gate keeper with no issues but due to the freezing temps and snow fall all other obstacles were extremely difficult. We had a Toyota 4 runner with 35s and he had to winch over several obstacles due to rising snow levels and slick/frozen rocks. Would only recommend attempting the trail with 37s or larger tires and high ground clearance. Would not recommend running the trail alone. Took several hours to complete
