Trail Overview
This is a nice run late spring through late fall before snowfall. In early spring, there may be some windfalls, so bring your saw and/or winch to potentially clear the trail. Much of this trail is a 1 or 2; however, there are a few places that give folks a chance to play with 4WD modes. Lockers are not necessary. Some of the spots are a little bit narrow, but a full-size pickup truck could make its way through just fine.
Beautiful creeks and scenery that include passing over the Silver Fork of the American River. This can be a one-day route, or people can make a weekend of it, camping along the way or making their way up the Mormon Emigrant Trail to Highway 88 and onto the various resorts along the way to Kirkwood.
Difficulty
The majority of this trail is very easy; however, there are a few spots with smaller water crossings, rocks, and some shelf road, including some narrow spots along the way.
