Trail Overview

This is a nice run late spring through late fall before snowfall. In early spring, there may be some windfalls, so bring your saw and/or winch to potentially clear the trail. Much of this trail is a 1 or 2; however, there are a few places that give folks a chance to play with 4WD modes. Lockers are not necessary. Some of the spots are a little bit narrow, but a full-size pickup truck could make its way through just fine. Beautiful creeks and scenery that include passing over the Silver Fork of the American River. This can be a one-day route, or people can make a weekend of it, camping along the way or making their way up the Mormon Emigrant Trail to Highway 88 and onto the various resorts along the way to Kirkwood.
