Trail Overview
This is a short but challenging trail that is an out-and-back with a loop at the terminus of the Bald Mountain Overlook area. This trail is very narrow and winding, and not recommended for full-sized vehicles or trailers. Initially, the trail climbs through the pine forest and has very tight twists and turns with multiple roots and downed trees to navigate. As the trail approaches the overlook area, it changes to a large granite slab with small to moderate boulders to maneuver through. The loop at the end is very fun to drive and has multiple excellent remote camping options. Very few people utilize this area so frequently that there will be nobody else to contend with, but if there are other people, there are multiple camping spots that provide privacy. The views at the top are nothing short of spectacular, and there is typically a nice breeze blowing.
Difficulty
Very tight maneuvering through trees, roots, and deadfall. The rock crawling in the granite slab area is moderately challenging and has boulders and steps to deal with. Trailers or even longer wheel-based vehicles will have great difficulty with this trail.
